Caribou Gem Motel

Absolutely the greatest stay I have had anywhere in a long time!!! The rooms are beautiful and the full kitchenette is such a wonderful feature. Not only was the hot water actually hot but they had a bathtub so I could enjoy a relaxing bubble bath for the first time in years. The staff was so accommodating and even helped me when I locked some stuff in the room after check out. The trains that run at night are a wonderful bonus to this already peaceful experience. Will definitely be back here for all of my yearly trips to Idaho

We ended up loving this little motel! It was super clean and the beds were comfy! We had a kitchenette that came with everything we needed and it’s only a short distance to Lava. Our reservation got mixed up but they quickly corrected it and gave us an upgrade! So very nice! We will definitely stay here again! Thank you! P/S: we hardly noticed the train.

A rare find! Definitely away from main line of travel. Nearest gas station is in Lava Hot Springs. Nice rooms! Updated modern with rustic accents. Stove top oven, refrigerator, microwave. Would stay there again.

When we first arrived I was a little unsure about our choice to book this motel. However, after we got past the tricky check-in, we were pleasantly surprised and very happy with our choice to stay here. We stayed in the room with 3 beds, and it was very spacious and the pictures online do this cute motel 0 justice. The room looks to be newly remodeled, and was very clean. I love a hotel with hard wood flooring, it just feels cleaner, which this room also had. The kitchen had very nice dishes and cookware provided, as well as a bottle of dishsoap and rag for washing. Our kids were most pleased with the TVs, these smart TVs already had every streaming app imaginable installed on them, so they didn't have to flip through channels and possibly not find something to their liking. The beds were comfortable, and the bedding was very soft. The only down side was the train that came by every few hours, it didn't bother us much, because we are used to trains where we live, but it might be a deal breaker for others. We plan on staying here again in the future! Thanks for a great experience!!

Our group had such a great time at this motel! The place was clean, beds were comfortable, check in/out was very easy. The only thing we had a problem with was sound, the walls to the outside were very thin and we heard everything that anyone outside had to say. Also, the train tracks right across the street were extremely active, including through the night. But overall lovely! I would stay here again!

We adore this location! It’s secluded and away from the bustle of Lava Hot Springs. A must for a family on introverts that need to recharge. It is also our favorite for price!! I hope this business stays fairly priced. We love watching the trains and walking the small town. The number we call to check in has always been courteous and answered questions, and we have had a lot. It has been remodeled since the last time we were there. I love how it has a full size kitchen. It’s nice to actually have a real freezer. Recently our car battery died while in the parking lot. The crew that was putting on a new roof got our car up and running, rather than having us wait who knows how long for AAA. Small towns are the best. This is our first checked place we try whenever we go to Lava. Other places are good but not for the price they charge. But Caribou Gem is a great price! clean, quiet, (minus trains, but they don’t bother us because we can’t hear them.) and close to Lava without the huge price tag. We will be back.

We we're pleasantly surprised with Caribou Gem. We had to call for a key code when we arrived, but the attendant answered right away and we were in our room within minutes. The room looked newly renovated with all-new floors, fixtures, paint and appliances. It felt like we were the first ones to use the room. It was very clean and we'll sealed. No draft! We we're warm all night and it was easy to adjust the new thermostat. Only issue was that it was right next to the train tracks, so we heard several loud trains in the night. Not the fault of the owners. 9 miles from Lava, it was the only room we could find during this busy weekend.

This place was beautiful! Newly remodeled feeling, clean, smelt great!! The only thing is I wish the beds had a side table . There was a lot of getting up and down and leaning off the bed to the floor to pick up a drink and have it..not much for a couch, resting chairs so the bed was really your couch. I also wish the coffee had creamer packs. There was a nice folgers coffee ground pack but then only 2 really small sugar packs The heating also needs instructions. I am not used to a smart hearer dial and woke up REALLY cold and took 1.5 hrs to figure out the heater and how to turn it on. All in all a nice room and location
